Possible Causes
Protective oils on heating element, Coating on basket or drawer not fully cured, Residual manufacturing residues on internal metal parts, Overheating of non-food-safe accessories
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure good kitchen ventilation when performing burn-in cycles.
- Initial cleaning: Wash the basket and drawer thoroughly with warm soapy water and dry completely.
- Burn-in cycle: Run the air fryer empty at 200–220°C for 15–20 minutes, then allow to cool. Repeat 2–3 times if necessary, ensuring no packaging materials remain inside.
- Check accessories: Use only original Gorenje baskets and trays. Remove any third-party silicone liners or foils that may be off-gassing.
- Inspect interior: If smell persists after several cycles, inspect the interior for any plastic parts too close to the heater that may be deforming. Replace the affected inner housing component or contact service.
