Possible Causes
Open or broken NTC temperature sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Loose connector on control PCB, Failed control PCB temperature input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Granitestone air fryer and let it cool completely before opening any panels. Never work on the unit while it is connected to power.
Steps to check and address E1:
- 1. Power reset: Unplug the air fryer for 5–10 minutes, then plug it back in and try again. Sometimes E1 can be a temporary sensor reading error.
- 2. Inspect the sensor wiring: Remove the basket and drawer. From the back or bottom (depending on model), remove the screws securing the outer housing. Locate the NTC temperature sensor near the heating element inside the cooking cavity. Follow its wires to the main control PCB. Check for any broken, pinched, or burned wires.
- 3. Check connectors: Ensure the small plug from the NTC sensor is fully seated on the control board. Reseat the connector by unplugging and plugging it back in firmly.
- 4. Visual inspection of sensor: Look for cracks, burn marks, or corrosion on the metal probe or sensor head. If damaged, the sensor must be replaced.
- 5. Replace the NTC sensor if open: If you have a multimeter and know how to use it, test the sensor for continuity (it should show a resistance value, not infinite). If it is open, order a compatible Granitestone NTC temperature sensor for your model and swap it by disconnecting the old sensor and routing the new one along the same path.
- 6. If E1 persists: If the sensor and wiring are intact but E1 remains, the control PCB may have a failed input circuit. In that case, replacement of the control board is recommended and is best done by a qualified technician.
