Possible Causes

Blocked air vents causing overheating, Failed or stuck high-limit thermostat, Faulty NTC sensor reading too high, Control PCB overtemperature protection triggered

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool for at least 30 minutes. Surfaces and internal components may be very hot.

Steps to address E3:

  • 1. Check ventilation: Ensure the Granitestone air fryer has at least 5 inches (12 cm) of clearance on all sides and is not pushed against a wall or under low cabinets. Clear any obstructions from the rear and bottom vents.
  • 2. Clean air passages: Remove the basket and drawer. Inspect the top and rear vents for grease buildup or food debris. Use a soft brush or vacuum with a brush attachment to clear vents. Do not spray water into the vents.
  • 3. Inspect the high-limit thermostat: With the housing removed, locate the high-limit thermostat / thermal cutoff near the heating element. Check for signs of overheating or discoloration. Some thermostats have a manual reset button; if present, press it gently to reset.
  • 4. Check the fan operation: Start a short cycle with the housing loosely in place (only if you can do so safely and without touching live parts). Listen for the convection fan motor. If the fan is not running, heat will build up and trigger E3.
  • 5. Replace faulty parts: If the high-limit thermostat is open and non-resettable, replace it with a compatible Granitestone high-limit thermostat. If the fan is not spinning, inspect and replace the convection fan motor assembly.
  • 6. Persistent E3: If ventilation is good and components test fine, the control PCB may be misreading temperature and should be evaluated or replaced by a technician.
