Safety first: This behavior is often normal, but if the unit never shuts off, unplug it.

Steps to evaluate extended fan run:

• 1. Check the manual: Many Hamilton Beach air fryers are designed to run the fan briefly after cooking to cool internal parts.
• 2. Time the duration: If the fan stops within 5–15 minutes, this is typically normal. If it runs indefinitely, there may be a fault.
• 3. Inspect temperature sensor: If the sensor is coated in grease, it may read hotter than actual and keep the fan running. Clean the sensor area carefully.
• 4. Control board check: If the fan never shuts off unless unplugged, the fan relay on the control board may be stuck closed. Replace the main control board if confirmed.

Note: A short cool-down period is beneficial and not a defect.
