Display lights up but buttons do not respond or only some buttons work intermittently.

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before removing the control panel.

Steps to restore button function:

• 1. Power reset: Unplug for 5–10 minutes and retry. If specific buttons still fail, continue.
• 2. Clean the panel surface: Wipe the control panel with a slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the panel.
• 3. Inspect for moisture: If the panel was recently exposed to steam or spills, remove the housing around the control panel and check for moisture. Allow to air dry for 24 hours before reassembly.
• 4. Reseat the ribbon cable: Disconnect and reconnect the flat cable between the touch panel and main board, ensuring it is fully inserted and straight.
• 5. Check for physical damage: Look for cracks in the plastic overlay or the small PCB behind the buttons. Cracks often require replacement of the entire control panel assembly.
• 6. Replace the touch panel: If certain keys never respond despite reseating the cable, replace the touch control panel assembly specific to your Hamilton Beach model.

Note: Do not use sharp objects to press the buttons; this can damage the membrane.
