Display shows EO or 0E and the air fryer will not start a cooking cycle.

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before accessing internal switches.

Steps to resolve EO:

• 1. Check basket insertion: Remove the basket and reinsert it firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure no food or foil is caught on the rails preventing full closure.
• 2. Inspect the latch tab: Look at the front edge of the basket or door where it engages the body. Many Hamilton Beach air fryers use a small plastic tab that presses a hidden microswitch. If the tab is cracked or worn down, the switch may not actuate.
• 3. Test the switch (basic): With the unit unplugged, press the area where the basket seats and listen for a faint click from the microswitch. No click may indicate a broken switch or actuator.
• 4. Access the switch (advanced): Remove the outer housing screws to reach the basket/door interlock switch. Check that the switch is firmly mounted and that its lever aligns with the basket tab.
• 5. Check wiring: Ensure the two wires on the switch are firmly attached and not burnt or broken.
• 6. Replace parts as needed: Replace the basket/door assembly if the plastic actuator is broken. Replace the microswitch if it does not click or fails continuity testing when pressed.

Warning: Do not bypass the basket/door safety switch. It prevents the heater from operating with the basket removed.
