Possible Causes
Misaligned basket, Faulty basket-in-place microswitch, Broken switch actuator tab on basket rail, Loose switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before accessing internal switches.
Steps to troubleshoot E10:
- 1. Check basket position: Remove and firmly reinsert the basket or drawer until it clicks fully into place. Ensure no food or foil is caught on the rails.
- 2. Inspect basket rails and tabs: Look for a small plastic tab or protrusion on the basket or drawer that presses a hidden switch when inserted. If this tab is broken, the switch will not activate.
- 3. Listen for switch click: Slowly insert and remove the basket while listening near the side or bottom of the unit. You should hear a faint click from the microswitch. If no click is heard, the switch may be stuck or broken.
- 4. Access the microswitch: Remove the side or bottom panel to locate the basket detection switch. Check that its lever is not bent and that it moves freely.
- 5. Test the switch: Disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing the lever. If it does not change state (open/closed), replace the switch with a compatible Insignia basket detection microswitch.
- 6. Check wiring: Ensure the switch wires are intact and firmly connected to the main control board.
Warning: Do not bypass the basket detection switch permanently; it is a safety feature to prevent operation with the drawer open.
