• 2. Inspect control panel area: Check for signs of liquid spills or steam damage around the display and buttons. If moisture is present, allow the unit to dry in a warm, dry area for 24 hours (unplugged).
• 3. Access ribbon cable: Remove the screws securing the control panel. Carefully tilt it forward to expose the flat ribbon cable or harness connecting it to the main board.
• 4. Reseat connectors: Gently unplug and reinsert the ribbon cable on both ends, ensuring it is fully seated and locked. Inspect for corrosion or bent pins.
• 5. Visual inspection: Look for cracks in the touch panel or burned components on the small keypad PCB (if separate). If damaged, replace the control panel assembly.
• 6. Replace main control board: If a known-good panel and cable still result in E9, the main board's interface circuitry is likely defective and the board should be replaced.
