Possible Causes
Warped or damaged basket, cracked inner pan, overfilled basket with excess oil, missing or damaged drip tray
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and allow the unit to cool before handling hot oil.
- Check fill level: Ensure you are not exceeding the maximum fill line and avoid adding large amounts of loose oil directly into the basket.
- Inspect basket and pan: Remove the basket and drip tray. Fill with a small amount of water over a sink and check for leaks from seams or cracks. Replace any leaking basket or pan.
- Verify drip tray: Make sure the drip tray is installed correctly and not warped. A missing or misaligned tray will allow grease to reach the bottom of the unit.
- Clean interior: Wipe any pooled oil from the bottom cavity. Do not allow oil to contact internal wiring or heater components.
