Possible Causes
Shorted temperature sensor, stuck heater relay on main control board, failed overheat thermostat, blocked fan or vents
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug immediately and allow the unit to cool fully. Overheating is a fire risk.
- Ventilation and fan: Ensure vents are clear and the fan is running during operation. If the fan is not running, diagnose and replace the fan motor.
- Sensor inspection: Clean the temperature sensor area of grease and debris. A contaminated sensor can misread temperature.
- Advanced testing: With the unit unplugged, test the temperature sensor resistance and compare to specifications. Replace if out of range.
- Control board: If the heater remains on continuously regardless of set temperature, the heater relay may be welded closed. Replace the main control board.
- Overheat devices: Verify that the overheat thermostat and thermal fuse are intact and correctly mounted to the heater housing.
