Possible Causes
Fan motor not running, blocked air circulation, shorted heating element, failing main control board triac or relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug immediately. Overcurrent or excessive internal temperature can damage components or cause fire.
- Check fan operation: After cooling, plug in and start a low‑temp cycle while observing through the top or rear grill. If the fan does not spin or is very slow, stop the cycle and unplug. A non‑running fan will cause E5.
- Inspect for obstructions: With the unit unplugged, remove the cover to access the fan. Clear any food debris, foil pieces, or plastic that may be jamming the blades. Spin the fan by hand; it should move freely without grinding.
- Test the fan motor: If the fan is free but does not run under power, test the motor windings with a multimeter. An open or shorted motor requires replacement.
- Check the heating element: Visually inspect the element for cracks, burn marks, or areas where it may be touching the chassis. A shorted element can cause overcurrent and E5.
- Ventilation: Ensure the unit has proper clearance and that vents are not blocked by walls, curtains, or other appliances.
- If fan and element are good: The main control board may be misreading current or temperature and should be replaced.
Do not bypass safety cutoffs or operate the unit with a non‑functional fan.
