Safety first: Unplug the unit before manipulating the lid mechanism.

• Check lid position: Open and close the lid firmly several times. Ensure it is fully seated and latched. Some Instant Pot air fryers require a specific orientation or alignment mark to be matched.
• Inspect for obstructions: Look around the lid latch and hinge area for food debris, crumbs, or plastic that may prevent full closure. Clean with a small brush and damp cloth.
• Check the lid switch: Locate the lid switch or sensor (often a small plastic plunger or magnetic reed switch near the hinge or front latch). Press it gently with a non‑metallic tool to see if it moves freely.
• Magnet check: If your model uses a magnet in the lid, verify it is still present and not loose. A missing magnet will prevent the sensor from detecting closure.
• Advanced test: With the unit unplugged and cover removed, locate the lid switch wiring on the main board. Check for loose connectors or broken wires. Test the switch for continuity when the lid is closed.
• Replace faulty parts: If the switch does not change state when actuated, replace the lid switch or reed sensor. If the magnet is missing or cracked, replace the lid or magnet insert.

Never bypass the lid safety switch; it prevents operation with an open lid.
