Possible Causes
Shorted temperature sensor, Stuck heater relay, Faulty main control board temperature regulation, Blocked convection fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug immediately if you see smoke or smell burning. Allow the unit to cool completely before inspection.
- Clean interior: Remove burnt food and grease from the basket, tray, and cavity. Residual grease can ignite and exaggerate overheating.
- Check fan operation: Run a test cycle and confirm that the fan is blowing strongly. Weak or no airflow can cause localized overheating.
- Monitor temperature: Use an oven thermometer to see if the actual temperature greatly exceeds the setpoint.
- Inspect relay (advanced): If the heater remains on continuously, the heater relay on the main board may be welded closed and the board must be replaced.
- Replace sensor: A shorted NTC sensor can misreport temperature as low, causing the unit to overheat. Replace the sensor assembly if readings are inaccurate.
