Possible Causes
Seized convection fan motor, Obstructed fan blades, Failed fan motor winding, Faulty fan driver circuit on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before inspecting the fan. Never insert tools into the fan area while the unit is powered.
- Check for airflow: During a cook cycle, you should feel hot air exiting the rear or side vents. If there is no airflow, the fan may not be running.
- Inspect fan blades: With the basket removed, look up toward the heater/fan assembly. Check for food debris, parchment paper, or foil blocking the fan.
- Manually spin fan (if accessible): If you can safely reach the fan blades, gently spin them with a non-metal tool. Resistance or grinding indicates a seized motor or bearing.
- Clean around fan: Use a soft brush or compressed air (short bursts) to remove dust and grease from the fan and motor vents.
- Replace fan motor: If the fan does not run even when powered and the blades are free, replace the convection fan motor assembly specific to your Instant model.
- Control board check: If a new motor does not run, the fan driver circuit on the main control board may be defective and require board replacement.
