Possible Causes

Grease buildup on heating element, Food debris trapped near heater, Melted plastic from drawer or accessories, Electrical overheating at connectors

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: If you see heavy smoke or flames, unplug the air fryer immediately and, if safe, slide the basket out carefully. Do not throw water on an electrical appliance.

Steps to address burning smell or smoke:

  • Clean cooking cavity: Once cool, remove basket and drawer. Clean the interior, especially around the heating element, with a non-abrasive sponge and mild detergent. Remove any baked-on grease or food.
  • Inspect accessories: Check the basket, drawer, and any racks for melted non-stick coating or plastic parts. Replace damaged Kalorik basket/drawer assemblies or accessories.
  • Check heater area: Look closely at the heater for stuck food or foil. Gently remove debris with a soft brush.
  • Internal inspection: Remove the bottom cover and inspect wiring and connectors near the heater and power input. Look for melted insulation, burnt connectors, or darkened areas on the control PCB.
  • Repair wiring/connectors: Replace any burnt spade terminals or wires with high-temperature-rated replacements. If the control board is burnt, replace the power/control PCB assembly.
  • Test carefully: After cleaning and repairs, run the air fryer empty at a moderate temperature for 10–15 minutes in a well-ventilated area to burn off any residual odors. Monitor closely.

If the burning smell persists after thorough cleaning and inspection, discontinue use and consult a technician.
