Possible Causes
Misaligned basket, Failed basket-in microswitch, Broken actuator tab on drawer, Loose switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before removing covers. Do not bypass safety switches for normal use.
Steps to address E8:
- Check basket alignment: Remove the basket and drawer completely, then reinsert firmly until you hear or feel a click. Ensure the drawer is fully seated; some Kalorik models will not start if the drawer is slightly out.
- Inspect drawer actuator: Look at the side or underside of the drawer for a small plastic tab or protrusion that engages the internal basket detection switch. If this tab is broken or worn, the switch will not be pressed.
- Access the microswitch: Remove the bottom cover and locate the door/basket microswitch near the front of the unit where the drawer slides in. Check that the switch lever moves freely and clicks when pressed.
- Check wiring: Ensure the switch wires are firmly connected and not broken or pinched.
- Test the switch: Disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing the lever. It should change state (open to closed or vice versa). If it does not, the switch is faulty.
- Replace the microswitch: Install a compatible Kalorik basket/door safety microswitch. Mount it in the same orientation so the drawer actuator engages it correctly.
- Repair or replace drawer: If the actuator tab on the drawer is broken, replace the Kalorik air fryer drawer/basket assembly or carefully rebuild the tab using high-temperature-resistant material (manufacturer replacement is preferred).
Never tape or permanently bypass the safety switch; it is critical for safe operation.
