Air fryer will not start and displays E1 on the control panel.

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool completely before opening any panels. Never work on a powered or hot appliance.

• Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try again. Sometimes E1 is a transient sensor error.
• Check sensor connector: Remove the basket and look inside the cooking cavity. On many Kenmore air fryers, the NTC temperature sensor is mounted near the rear or top wall. Access the rear cover (usually Phillips screws) and locate the small two‑wire sensor harness going to the cavity. Ensure the plug is fully seated on the main control board and that no pins are bent or corroded.
• Inspect sensor wiring: Look for cut, pinched, or burned wires between the sensor and the control board. Repair any damaged wiring with high‑temperature rated wire and proper crimp connectors.
• Test the sensor (for advanced users): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the NTC sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature, most NTC sensors read between 50kΩ and 200kΩ (exact value varies by model). An open circuit (OL) or 0Ω indicates a failed sensor.
• Replace faulty parts: If the sensor is open/shorted, replace the NTC temperature sensor. If the sensor tests good but E1 persists, the main control board sensor input is likely damaged and the board should be replaced.
