Possible Causes

Blocked exhaust vents,Failed cooling fan,Grease buildup around heater,Defective thermostat or thermal sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug and allow the air fryer to cool completely. Do not operate with covers removed.

  • Improve airflow: Move the air fryer to an open area with at least 4 inches (10 cm) clearance on all sides. Ensure the rear and bottom vents are not blocked.
  • Clean thoroughly: Remove the basket and drawer. Clean the interior, especially around the heating element and fan shroud, with a non‑abrasive cloth and mild degreaser. Built‑up grease traps heat.
  • Check cooling fan: Some Kenmore models have an auxiliary cooling fan near the control board. Access the top or rear cover and verify the fan spins freely and runs during operation. Replace the fan if seized or not receiving power.
  • Inspect thermostat/sensor: Verify the thermostat or NTC sensor is firmly attached to its mounting point and not covered in heavy grease. Replace if physically damaged or if resistance readings are out of range.
  • Persistent H1: If airflow and components are good but H1 continues, the main control board may be misreading temperature and should be replaced.
