Possible Causes

Blown internal fuse on PCB, Faulty power cord or plug, Failed SMPS power supply on main PCB, Faulty mains filter or on/off switch (if fitted)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Ensure the unit is unplugged before any disassembly. Mains voltages are lethal.

  • External checks: Test the wall outlet with another appliance. Inspect the Kenwood plug and cord for damage. Replace the cord set if suspect.
  • Internal fuse: Remove the cover and locate the small glass or ceramic fuse on the PCB or near the mains input. Test with a multimeter; if blown, replace with the exact same rating.
  • Investigate cause: If the new fuse blows immediately, there is a short in the power supply, heater, or wiring. Do not keep replacing fuses; locate and repair the short first.
  • Power supply section: If the fuse is intact but there is still no power, the SMPS section of the main PCB may have failed. Look for bulging capacitors or burnt components. Replace the main PCB if faulty.
