Possible Causes

Bent basket rail or latch, Worn or sticky basket microswitch, Misaligned switch actuator lever, Broken plastic guide on drawer

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug before working near the switch.

  • Inspect basket and drawer: Check for bent metal rails, deformed plastic, or food debris preventing full insertion. Clean and straighten as needed.
  • Locate microswitch: With the drawer removed, look inside the cavity for the small safety switch that detects the basket. Manually press it; you should hear a distinct click.
  • Adjust actuator: If the basket does not reliably press the switch, gently bend the metal or plastic actuator tab so it engages earlier.
  • Replace switch: If the switch does not click or tests open/erratic with a multimeter, replace the basket safety microswitch.
