Possible Causes
Cabinet temperature sensor harness unplugged, Broken NTC sensor lead, Damaged wiring between sensor and main PCB, Failed main control PCB input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer from the mains and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels.
- Power reset: Leave the unit unplugged for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try again. Sometimes E1 is a transient sensor read error.
- Check sensor connector: Remove the rear cover (usually a few Phillips screws). Locate the small wired probe (NTC sensor) clipped near the heater or in the air outlet duct. Ensure its plug is firmly seated on the main control PCB.
- Inspect wiring: Look for broken, pinched, or burnt wires between the sensor and PCB. Repair any obvious damage with high‑temperature rated wire and proper crimp connectors.
- Test sensor (if you have a multimeter): Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. A typical Kenwood NTC will read between 50–200 kΩ at ~25°C (check service data if available). If it reads open (OL) or 0 Ω, the sensor is faulty.
- Replace faulty parts: If the sensor is open or physically damaged, replace the temperature sensor probe. If the sensor tests good but E1 persists, the main control PCB sensor input is likely defective and should be replaced.
Do not bypass the sensor; operating without it is a fire and burn hazard.
