Possible Causes
Corrupted firmware on main PCB, Faulty communication bus between UI and main board, Electrostatic or surge damage to microcontroller, Poor grounding or loose mounting screws on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect from mains before opening the housing.
- Power cycle: Unplug for at least 10 minutes to fully discharge internal capacitors, then reconnect and test. This can clear transient MCU lockups.
- Check all connectors: Open the unit and reseat all multi‑pin connectors between boards. Ensure no pins are bent or pushed back.
- Inspect PCB: Look for burn marks, cracked components, or obvious physical damage. If present, the main PCB should be replaced.
- Grounding: Ensure the PCB mounting screws and earth wire are secure to the chassis. Poor grounding can cause communication errors.
- Board replacement: If E9 persists with no visible damage and all cables are secure, replace the main control PCB. Firmware is typically pre‑loaded and not field‑programmable on Kenwood air fryers.
