Dust or grease on heater burning off, Failing fan motor overheating, Wiring insulation touching heater, New‑unit curing smell persisting abnormally long
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: If you smell strong burning plastic or see smoke from vents, unplug immediately.
- Initial burn‑off: For new units, run empty at 200°C for 10–15 minutes in a well‑ventilated area. Mild odor is normal initially.
- Inspect interior: After cooling, check for food debris or paper/packaging near the heater and remove.
- Check wiring: Open the housing and ensure no wires are touching the heater or metal surfaces that get very hot. Re‑route and secure with high‑temp ties.
- Fan motor: If the smell is strongest near the fan and the motor is noisy or very hot to touch (after cooling), replace the fan motor.
