Possible Causes
Faulty START touch button on panel, Loose ribbon cable to control board, Stuck or damaged keypad, Control board input failure for START signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the control panel.
Steps:
- 1. Confirm settings: Ensure a temperature and time are selected and the basket is fully inserted. Some Klarstein models require both before START is accepted.
- 2. Clean touch surface: Wipe the control panel with a slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Heavy grease can interfere with capacitive touch.
- 3. Access control panel: Remove screws securing the fascia. Carefully lift the panel to expose the touch PCB and ribbon cable.
- 4. Reseat ribbon cable: Disconnect and reconnect the flat cable between the touch panel and main board. Ensure it is fully inserted and locked.
- 5. Test START button: If you have access to service mode or can probe the touch PCB, verify that the START pad changes state when pressed. If not, replace the touch control panel PCB.
- 6. Replace main board if needed: If the touch panel is known good but the main board does not respond to the START signal, replace the main control PCB.
- 7. Reassemble and test: Refit the fascia, plug in, and test the START function.
Warning: Do not press excessively hard on touch panels; this can crack the PCB or damage traces.
