Possible Causes

NTC sensor shorted internally, Sensor leads shorted against metal chassis, Melted insulation near heating element, Control board sensor input shorted

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the Klarstein air fryer from power and allow it to cool fully.

Diagnostic and repair steps:

  • 1. Open the housing: Remove basket and pan. Remove screws from the base or top cover (depending on model) and carefully separate the shell.
  • 2. Inspect the NTC sensor wiring: Follow the two-wire harness from the control PCB to the sensor near the heater. Look for melted insulation, bare wires touching the metal frame, or signs of overheating.
  • 3. Check resistance: With a multimeter on resistance, measure across the sensor leads (disconnected from the board). A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace the sensor assembly if shorted.
  • 4. Correct wiring shorts: If the wires are pinched or touching the chassis, reposition them and secure with high-temperature cable ties or fiberglass tape. Replace any damaged harness sections.
  • 5. Inspect control PCB: If the sensor tests normal but E2 persists, inspect the control board around the sensor connector for burn marks or bridged solder. A shorted input circuit usually requires replacing the main control board.
  • 6. Reassemble and test: Refit covers, ensuring wires are clear of screw holes and fan blades. Plug in and test. The E2 code should clear if the short is resolved.

Warning: Do not operate the fryer with a known sensor fault; overheating and fire are possible.
