Possible Causes

Seized fan motor bearings, Obstructed fan blades, Open or shorted fan motor winding, Faulty fan tachometer feedback to control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool. Do not attempt to free a jammed fan while the unit is powered.

Steps:

  • 1. Access fan assembly: Remove basket and pan. Remove screws securing the top heater/fan shroud. Carefully lift the shroud to expose the fan blades and motor.
  • 2. Check for obstructions: Inspect the fan blades for food debris, warped plastic, or foreign objects. Remove any obstruction and ensure the blades spin freely by hand.
  • 3. Inspect motor bearings: Spin the fan by hand. It should rotate smoothly without grinding or stiffness. If it is stiff or wobbly, the motor bearings may be worn and the motor should be replaced.
  • 4. Test motor windings: Disconnect the fan motor connector from the harness. Measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit or very low resistance (near 0 Ω) indicates a faulty motor.
  • 5. Replace fan motor: If the motor is defective, remove mounting screws and transfer the fan blade to the new Klarstein fan motor (note orientation). Reinstall the motor and reconnect the harness.
  • 6. Check tachometer wiring (if present): Some motors have a third wire for speed feedback. Ensure this wire and connector are intact and firmly seated on the control board.
  • 7. Reassemble and test: Refit the shroud and housing. Plug in and start a cycle. Confirm that the fan runs at normal speed and E7 does not reappear.

Warning: Do not lubricate sealed fan motors with household oils; this can damage the motor and create fire risk.
