Possible Causes
Failed heating element, Loose heater connectors, Blown thermal fuse in heater circuit, Faulty heater relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and allow the unit to cool completely.
- Confirm symptom: Run a short cycle and feel for any warmth near the exhaust. If completely cold, proceed with heater checks.
- Access heater terminals: Remove the top cover to expose the heating element and its wiring.
- Check connections: Tighten any loose spade connectors and look for discoloration or burning at the terminals.
- Test heater and fuse: Disconnect one heater lead and measure resistance across the element. Also locate and test any inline thermal fuse in series with the heater. Replace any open component.
- Inspect control board: If heater and fuse are good, inspect the heater relay/triac on the PCB for burn marks. Replace the main control PCB if the switching device has failed.
Warning: Do not attempt to repair a cracked or broken heating element; always replace the entire assembly.
