Possible Causes
Damaged touch sensor PCB, Loose ribbon cable to main board, Cracked front fascia affecting capacitive touch, Firmware lockup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing the control panel.
- Soft reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then reconnect and test. Sometimes this clears a frozen microcontroller.
- Clean the panel: Wipe the control surface with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry. Grease films can affect capacitive touch.
- Check ribbon cable: Remove the fascia and reseat the flat cable between the touch panel and main PCB. Ensure it is straight and fully inserted.
- Inspect for cracks: Look for hairline cracks in the plastic fascia over the touch areas. If present, replace the fascia/touch assembly.
- Replace touch PCB: If specific buttons never work despite good connections, replace the Lakeland touch control panel PCB.
Warning: Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners on the touch panel; they can permanently damage the sensors.
