Possible Causes
Cabinet NTC probe connector loose on control board, Broken NTC sensor wiring harness, Failed NTC temperature sensor, Damaged main control PCB input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Lakeland air fryer from the mains and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels.
- Check for obvious resets: Confirm the basket is fully inserted and the unit is on a stable, level surface. Try a different wall socket to rule out supply issues.
- Access the top/rear cover: Remove the screws securing the outer shell (usually on the back or underside). Carefully lift the cover, watching for any wiring attached to the panel.
- Inspect the NTC sensor wiring: Locate the small metal probe or bullet-style sensor clipped near the heating element or in the air channel. Follow its thin wires back to the control board. Ensure the plug is fully seated and not corroded or burnt.
- Check for damage: Look for cut, pinched, or melted insulation on the sensor harness. If the wires are broken or the sensor tip is cracked or loose, the sensor assembly should be replaced.
- Test continuity (if you have a meter): With the sensor unplugged, measure resistance across the NTC leads. A completely open (infinite) reading indicates a failed sensor. Compare to a typical NTC value (often 50–200 kΩ at room temperature; consult Lakeland documentation if available).
- Reconnect or replace: Reseat the connector firmly. If the sensor is open or physically damaged, install a compatible Lakeland NTC temperature sensor assembly and reconnect to the board.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the cover, tighten screws, plug the unit back in, and attempt a short cook cycle to confirm the E1 code is cleared.
Warning: Do not bypass or short the temperature sensor; this can cause overheating and fire risk.
