Possible Causes
Moisture ingress into NTC sensor head, Shorted NTC sensor wiring, Melted insulation near heating element, Failed control board sensor input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the Lakeland air fryer from power and let it cool fully.
- Visual inspection: Remove the outer cover to access the heating chamber area. Locate the NTC sensor near the heater or air outlet. Check for signs of moisture, oil, or condensation around the sensor tip and wiring.
- Check for shorts: Look for melted or fused wires where they pass close to the heating element or metal chassis. Any bare conductors touching each other or the frame can cause a short.
- Dry and clean: If the sensor area is damp or greasy, gently clean with a dry cloth and allow it to air dry thoroughly. Do not use water directly inside the unit.
- Test resistance: With the sensor unplugged from the control board, measure resistance. A near-zero reading indicates a shorted sensor. Replace the sensor assembly if shorted.
- Inspect control board: Examine the sensor connector on the PCB for burn marks or corrosion. If the board is visibly damaged, it may need replacement.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing the sensor or repairing wiring, reassemble the housing, plug in, and run a preheat cycle to confirm the E2 code is cleared.
Warning: Do not operate the air fryer with damaged insulation or exposed wiring; this is a shock and fire hazard.
