Possible Causes

Misaligned basket drawer, Failed microswitch in basket detection assembly, Broken actuator tab on drawer, Loose switch wiring to control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before any disassembly.

  • Check basket fit: Remove and reinsert the basket/drawer firmly until it clicks. Ensure no food or foil is trapped around the rails or latch area.
  • Inspect the latch area: Look at the underside and side of the control panel where the drawer slides in. Identify the small plastic tab or protrusion on the drawer that actuates the switch.
  • Test the switch: With the drawer removed and the unit unplugged, access the switch behind the front panel. Manually press the switch lever and listen for a distinct click. If it feels mushy or does not click, it may be faulty.
  • Check wiring: Confirm the two wires to the microswitch are firmly attached and not broken.
  • Continuity test: Use a multimeter to verify the switch changes state (open/closed) when pressed. Replace the basket safety microswitch if it does not operate correctly.
  • Repair drawer actuator: If the plastic tab on the drawer is broken or worn, replace the drawer/basket assembly or repair the tab so it reliably presses the switch.

Warning: Never bypass the basket safety switch permanently; it prevents operation with the drawer removed.
