Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between touch panel and main PCB, Damaged touch PCB, Moisture ingress behind control panel, Firmware glitch on main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains before opening the control area.
- Power reset: Leave the unit unplugged for 10 minutes, then reconnect and test. This can clear minor firmware glitches.
- Access control panel: Remove screws securing the front or top fascia to expose the touch panel and its ribbon cable.
- Check ribbon cable: Ensure the flat cable is fully inserted into both the control panel and main PCB connectors. Gently clean contacts with isopropyl alcohol if contaminated.
- Inspect for moisture: Look for condensation or liquid traces behind the panel. Dry thoroughly and avoid using the air fryer under cooker hoods where steam can enter.
- Panel test: If some buttons never respond, the touch PCB may be faulty. Replace the Lakeland touch control panel assembly.
- Main board replacement: If a new panel and secure connections do not resolve E9, replace the main control PCB.
Warning: Do not spray cleaners directly onto the control panel; apply to a cloth first to avoid liquid ingress.
