Possible Causes
Grease trapped in hidden areas, Overheating of plastic trim near heater, Low-quality aftermarket parts installed, Inadequate initial burn-in
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and cool before cleaning or inspection.
- Deep clean: Thoroughly clean the basket, pan, heater guard, and interior surfaces to remove old grease and food residues.
- Burn-in cycle: Run the air fryer empty at 180–200°C for 10–15 minutes with good ventilation, then cool and repeat once if needed.
- Inspect plastic parts: Check plastic trims near the heater and fan for signs of warping or discoloration. Replace any parts that appear overheated.
- Check for non-original parts: If any internal parts have been replaced with non-Lakeland components, consider replacing them with genuine parts designed for high temperatures.
Warning: If you see smoke or the smell is acrid and worsening, discontinue use and have the unit inspected for overheating issues.
