Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before removing any panels. Allow the unit to cool completely.
Steps to check and address E1:
- Power reset: Unplug the air fryer for 5 minutes, then plug it back in and try again. If E1 returns, continue.
- Access the temperature sensor: Remove the rear cover (usually held by Phillips screws). Locate the cavity temperature sensor (NTC) clipped to or near the inner metal wall or air channel.
- Inspect wiring: Check the sensor’s two-wire harness for cuts, burns, or pinched sections. Ensure the connector is fully seated on the main PCB.
- Test the sensor: Using a multimeter set to resistance (ohms), measure across the sensor leads. A typical NTC will show a finite resistance (often 5–200 kΩ at room temperature). If it reads OL (open) or 0 Ω (short), the sensor is defective.
- Replace if faulty: If open or shorted, replace with an LG-compatible cavity temperature sensor/NTC. Transfer any clips or brackets from the old sensor to the new one and reconnect firmly.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the rear cover, plug the unit in, and run a short preheat cycle to confirm the error is cleared.
When to stop: If the sensor tests good but E1 persists, the main control board may be defective. At this point, contact an authorized LG service technician.
