Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool fully. Internal components can remain hot for 30+ minutes after use.
Steps to address E3:
- External airflow: Ensure at least 4–6 inches of clearance around the air fryer. Do not operate under low cabinets without adequate ventilation.
- Clean interior: Remove the basket and pan. Clean grease and food debris from the cavity, heater guard, and air outlets using a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft brush. Built-up grease can cause localized overheating.
- Inspect the convection fan: Remove the rear or top cover (depending on model) to access the fan. Spin the fan blade by hand; it should move freely without scraping. If stiff or noisy, the motor may be failing.
- Check thermal cutoff: Locate the thermal fuse/thermal cutoff mounted near the heater or on the air channel. Test continuity with a multimeter. If open (no continuity), it must be replaced with the exact temperature and rating specified for LG models.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing any failed parts and cleaning, reassemble the unit and run a short preheat to verify normal operation.
Warning: Never bypass or short a thermal fuse. It is a critical safety device. If you are unsure, contact a qualified technician.
