Possible Causes

Shorted heating element, Shorted main PCB power component (triac, relay, or power IC), Damaged power cord or plug, Internal wiring short to chassis

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer immediately. Do not repeatedly reset the breaker if it trips.

Steps to investigate E5:

  • Check outlet and cord: Inspect the power cord for cuts, burns, or kinks. Try a different properly grounded outlet. If the cord is damaged, replace it before further use.
  • Visual inspection inside: Remove the rear cover and inspect for obvious shorts: burnt spots on the PCB, melted wires, or arcing marks near the heater or fan.
  • Test heater for short to ground: With the unit unplugged, disconnect heater leads. Measure resistance from each heater terminal to the metal chassis. Any low resistance (under several megaohms) indicates a shorted element that must be replaced.
  • Check wiring harness: Look for wires pinched between panels or rubbing against sharp metal edges. Repair or replace damaged sections and secure with clips or high-temp tape.

Warning: If the main control board shows burn damage or if you suspect a PCB component short, do not attempt board-level repair unless you are qualified. Replace the entire main PCB or contact LG service.
