Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool. Moving fan blades can cause injury.
Steps to address E6:
- Check for obstructions: Remove the basket and pan. Look through the rear grill at the fan. Ensure no food pieces, foil, or accessories are blocking the fan.
- Access the fan: Remove the rear or top cover to expose the fan motor and blade. Carefully try to spin the blade by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding.
- Inspect wiring: Verify the fan motor connector is fully seated on the main PCB and that the wires are not damaged or pinched.
- Test the motor: If accessible, measure resistance across the motor leads. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Some LG fan motors are DC and may require checking against service specs.
- Replace the fan motor: If seized, noisy, or electrically open, replace with an LG-compatible convection fan motor assembly. Ensure the fan blade is correctly oriented and tightened.
Note: If the motor tests good but never receives voltage during operation, the main control board’s fan driver may be defective and should be serviced by a professional.
