Possible Causes
Protective oils or coatings not fully burned off, Residual packaging material near heater, Low-quality aftermarket accessories inside cavity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure good ventilation when performing burn-in cycles.
Steps to reduce odors:
- Initial burn-in: Run the air fryer empty (with basket and pan installed) at a medium-high temperature for 15–20 minutes, then cool and repeat once or twice.
- Clean thoroughly: Wash the basket, pan, and removable accessories with warm soapy water. Wipe the interior cavity with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry.
- Remove foreign items: Ensure no stickers, plastic films, or packaging remain inside or near the heater.
- Check accessories: Use only LG-approved or high-quality, heat-safe accessories. Remove any that emit strong odors when heated.
Note: A slight new-appliance smell is normal initially, but strong or worsening chemical odors should be investigated for melting plastic or wiring issues.
