Possible Causes

Cabinet temperature sensor harness unplugged, Broken NTC sensor lead, Damaged wiring between sensor and main PCB, Failed main control board input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer from the wall outlet and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Never work on a hot appliance.

  • Step 1 – Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try again. Sometimes E1 can be a transient sensor reading error.
  • Step 2 – Inspect sensor connector: Remove the rear or bottom cover (depending on model). Locate the small wired probe (NTC sensor) clipped near the heating chamber wall. Ensure its plug is firmly seated on the main PCB connector.
  • Step 3 – Check sensor wiring: Look for burnt, pinched, or broken wires between the sensor and the control board. Repair any damaged insulation with high‑temperature wire and proper crimp connectors; do not use household tape.
  • Step 4 – Test sensor: With a multimeter set to resistance (kΩ), measure across the two sensor leads. A typical Midea NTC will read between 50kΩ–200kΩ at room temperature. If it reads open (OL) or 0Ω, the sensor is defective and must be replaced.
  • Step 5 – Inspect PCB input: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the temperature sensing circuit on the main PCB may be faulty. Visually inspect for burnt components or corrosion. Replacement of the main control board is usually required.
  • When to stop: If you are not comfortable using a multimeter or removing covers, stop after the power reset and call a qualified technician.
