Possible Causes
Seized fan motor, Obstruction in fan blades, Failed fan motor winding, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Internal fan blades can be sharp; wear cut‑resistant gloves.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the basket and look up toward the fan guard. Use a torch to inspect for food debris, foil, or warped plastic touching the fan. Remove any obstruction carefully.
- Spin test: With the unit unplugged, gently spin the fan through the guard using a non‑metallic tool. It should rotate freely. If stiff or grinding, the motor bearings may be worn; replace the fan motor assembly.
- Access motor: Remove the top cover to expose the fan motor. Check that mounting screws are tight and the fan is not rubbing on the shroud.
- Electrical test: Measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Replace the fan motor assembly specific to your Morphy Richards model.
- PCB driver: If the motor tests good but never receives voltage when a program starts, the fan driver circuit on the main PCB may be defective. Replace the main control PCB.
