P1 flashes and the unit will not start; sometimes accompanied by a rapid beep sequence.

Safety first: Disconnect from mains before mechanical adjustments.

• Reinsert basket: Remove the basket and check for obstructions on the rails. Reinsert firmly until you feel a positive click.
• Inspect drawer alignment: Check that the drawer slides evenly and is not warped from heat. If the frame is distorted, the basket may not reach the detection switch; replace the drawer/basket assembly.
• Check detection mechanism: On some Morphy Richards models, a small magnet in the basket triggers a reed switch inside the housing. Ensure the magnet is still present and secure. Test the reed switch with a multimeter and a separate magnet; replace if non‑functional.
• Microswitch models: If a mechanical microswitch is used, verify that the basket tab fully depresses the switch. Adjust or replace the switch bracket if needed.
