Possible Causes

Faulty capacitive touch panel, Damaged Start button membrane, Loose ribbon cable between panel and PCB, Firmware lockup on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug before opening the control panel.

  • Reset electronics: Unplug for 10 minutes, then reconnect and try again. This can clear a frozen microcontroller.
  • Check child lock: Some Morphy Richards models have a key lock function. Refer to the user manual to disable any lock mode.
  • Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the front control panel and ensure the flat ribbon cable is fully inserted and not damaged. Reseat both ends.
  • Test button function: If other buttons respond but Start does not, the touch sensor or membrane for that key may have failed. Replace the complete control panel or keypad assembly as supplied by Morphy Richards.
  • PCB replacement: If no keys respond and the display is erratic, the main PCB may be defective and require replacement.
