Heavy grease buildup on heater and basket, Food particles stuck on heater guard, Incorrect use of oil-soaked parchment or foil touching heater, Failing thermostat or sensor causing overheat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately unplug the air fryer and remove it from flammable surroundings. If flames are present, keep the basket closed and do not use water; use a Class F/K or appropriate kitchen fire extinguisher.
- Step 1 – Allow to cool: Wait until the unit is completely cool before opening.
- Step 2 – Deep clean: Remove basket and drawer. Thoroughly clean all removable parts with degreaser. Using a soft brush, clean the heater guard and interior surfaces to remove baked-on grease.
- Step 3 – Inspect heater area: Check for charred food stuck on or near the heating element. Remove carefully without bending the element.
- Step 4 – Usage review: Ensure you are not placing oil-soaked paper or foil where it can contact the heater. Follow Moulinex guidelines for maximum oil quantity.
- Step 5 – Sensor/thermostat check: If burning smell persists even after cleaning and correct use, have a technician test the NTC sensor and thermal cut-out for proper operation and replace if faulty.
