Possible Causes
Worn fan motor bearings, Loose fan blade on shaft, Foreign object contacting fan, Bent fan blade
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and let it cool. Do not insert objects into the fan while it is running.
- Step 1 – Check for debris: Remove the basket and inspect the heater guard and fan area for loose screws, food pieces, or foil. Remove any foreign objects.
- Step 2 – Access fan assembly: Remove the top cover to expose the fan. Gently wiggle the fan blade; it should be firmly attached to the motor shaft without excessive play.
- Step 3 – Spin test: Rotate the fan by hand. Roughness, grinding, or side-to-side wobble indicates worn bearings or a bent shaft.
- Step 4 – Tighten or replace: If the fan is loose on the shaft, tighten the retaining nut or clip if present. If noise persists, replace the convection fan motor assembly.
