Possible Causes
NTC sensor detached from heater area, Shorted sensor reading low temperature, Stuck heater relay on PCB, Bypassed or failed thermal cut-out
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug immediately and do not use the fryer until repaired. Overheating is a fire hazard.
- Step 1 – Inspect sensor placement: Open the housing and locate the NTC sensor. Ensure it is firmly clipped to the heater shroud or designated bracket and not hanging away from the heat source.
- Step 2 – Test sensor: Measure resistance at room temperature and compare to expected values. A shorted sensor (very low resistance) can cause the controller to overheat the unit.
- Step 3 – Check relay: Inspect the heater relay on the PCB. If contacts are welded closed, the heater may stay on continuously. Replace the PCB or relay.
- Step 4 – Verify thermal cut-out: Test continuity of the thermal cut-out. If it has been bypassed or replaced with an incorrect part, restore the correct Moulinex-specified component.
