Possible Causes

Open-circuit NTC temperature probe on heater housing, Broken sensor wiring harness, Loose connector on main control board, Failed main PCB sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Moulinex air fryer from the mains and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Never work on the unit while it is connected to power.

  • Step 1 – Power reset: Unplug the fryer for 10–15 minutes, then plug it back in and try again. Sometimes E1 can be triggered by a transient fault.
  • Step 2 – Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the rear or bottom cover (depending on model). Locate the NTC temperature sensor clipped to or near the heating element shroud. Follow its two wires to the main control board. Check for burnt, cut, or pinched wires and reseat the connector firmly.
  • Step 3 – Check sensor resistance: With a multimeter set to ohms, measure resistance across the NTC sensor leads. A typical NTC will read between 5 kΩ and 200 kΩ at room temperature (exact value varies by model). If the meter shows OL (open) or 0 Ω (short), the sensor is defective.
  • Step 4 – Inspect main PCB connector: Check the sensor plug on the control board for corrosion, discoloration, or loose pins. Clean gently with contact cleaner and reconnect.
  • Step 5 – Replace faulty parts: If the sensor is open or physically damaged, replace the NTC temperature sensor assembly specific to your Moulinex model. If wiring and sensor test good but E1 persists, the main control board (PCB) sensor input is likely faulty and the board should be replaced.
  • When to stop: If you are not comfortable using a multimeter or removing covers, or if the unit is under warranty, stop and contact an authorized Moulinex service center.
