Possible Causes

Shorted NTC temperature sensor, Sensor wire insulation melted against heater, Grease or moisture ingress into sensor connector, Failed main PCB interpreting sensor as short

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the air fryer from power and let it cool fully. Internal parts can remain hot for 30+ minutes after use.

  • Step 1 – Basic reset and cleaning: Unplug for 15 minutes. Remove the basket and drawer. Clean any heavy grease buildup around the heater and sensor area using a soft brush and a slightly damp cloth (do not spray cleaner directly into the unit). Dry thoroughly and test again.
  • Step 2 – Access the sensor: Remove the housing screws to access the heater compartment. Locate the NTC sensor clipped near the heating element. Inspect the sensor body and wires for melted insulation or signs of shorting to the metal chassis.
  • Step 3 – Test the sensor: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the sensor leads at room temperature. A reading close to 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace if shorted or physically damaged.
  • Step 4 – Check for moisture: Look for condensation or oil inside the sensor connector. If present, dry carefully with a hair dryer on low heat at a safe distance, then reconnect.
  • Step 5 – Replace PCB if needed: If the sensor tests within normal range and wiring is intact but E2 persists, the main control board may be misreading the sensor and should be replaced.
  • Warning: Do not bypass or bridge the sensor; this disables safety protections and can cause fire or severe overheating.
