Possible Causes
Blocked air inlet or outlet vents, Failed or stuck thermal fuse/thermal cut-out, Faulty NTC sensor reading too high, Grease buildup around heater causing localized overheating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool completely. Do not attempt to run the unit with covers removed.
- Step 1 – Check ventilation: Ensure the air fryer has at least 10 cm clearance on all sides and is not placed under cabinets or against a wall. Inspect the rear and bottom vents for dust, plastic bags, or other obstructions and clear them.
- Step 2 – Clean heater area: Remove the basket and drawer. Look up toward the heating element. Carefully brush away carbonized food and grease from the heater guard and surrounding area. Wipe with a slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
- Step 3 – Inspect thermal cut-out: Open the housing to access the heater assembly. Locate the thermal fuse or thermal cut-out (small disc or inline fuse attached to the heater shroud). Check for discoloration or signs of overheating. Some cut-outs are self-resetting; others are one-time fuses.
- Step 4 – Test components: With a multimeter, test continuity across the thermal fuse/cut-out. If open (no continuity) and the part is a one-time fuse, it must be replaced with the exact temperature and rating specified for your Moulinex model.
- Step 5 – Sensor verification: If the thermal fuse is intact, test the NTC sensor as in E1/E2. A sensor reading incorrectly high can trigger E3.
- Step 6 – Reassemble and test: After replacing any faulty parts, reassemble the housing fully before plugging in and testing. Never operate the fryer with covers removed.
