Possible Causes
Corrupted control board firmware, Power surge damage, Loose display/control ribbon cable, Failed microcontroller on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before handling. Do not open the unit if it is under warranty; contact Ninja support first.
- Step 1 – Hard reset: Unplug the air fryer for at least 10 minutes. Press and hold the main power or START/STOP button for 10 seconds while unplugged (if accessible) to help discharge internal capacitors. Plug back in and test.
- Step 2 – Try a different outlet: Plug the unit directly into a known-good outlet without a surge protector or extension cord to rule out supply issues.
- Step 3 – Check for moisture: If the control panel was exposed to steam or liquid spills, allow the unit to dry for several hours in a warm, dry environment, then test again.
- Step 4 – Internal cable check (advanced): With the unit unplugged, remove the control panel cover and verify that the ribbon cable between the display board and main control board is fully seated and not pinched or damaged.
- Step 5 – Firmware/board replacement: If E05 persists, the control board is likely faulty. Ninja typically replaces the entire control module rather than reprogramming it in the field.
