Nuwave air fryer basket will not lock in place; unit keeps indicating the basket is not inserted.

Safety First: Unplug the air fryer before inspecting the latch and switch mechanism.

Step-by-step checks:

• Visual check of latch: Examine the basket handle and latch hook for cracks or missing pieces. The hook must fully engage the chassis to press the safety switch.
• Test insertion: Slowly insert the basket and listen for a click from the internal microswitch. If no click is heard, the actuator may not be reaching the switch.
• Inspect actuator tab: Look for the small plastic tab on the basket or chassis that physically presses the switch. If it is worn down or broken, it will not engage.
• Switch test (advanced): With the unit unplugged and front cover removed, manually press the basket safety microswitch and start a cycle (with caution). If the unit starts when the switch is pressed by hand, the basket/actuator is at fault.
• Replace parts: Replace a damaged basket assembly or basket safety microswitch as needed.

Note: Do not tape or jam the switch closed; this bypasses a safety feature and can be dangerous.
